The family of slain Somali businessman Mohamed Bashir has written, through its lawyers, to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) asking for a public inquest into Bashir’s death.
In a letter addressed to DPP Noordin Haji, through family lawyer Charles Madowo, the family is seeking answers as to the circumstances surrounding Bashir’s mysterious disappearance and death.
They raise the following issues:
Bashir was reported missing at the Muthangari Police Station on May 16. His vehicle was discovered burning at Kibiku area in Ngong, Kajiado County on the same day, and the shell was removed by unknown people. ....

Bashir Mohamoud struggled with attackers to talk to wife before phone was snatched

Investigation officer Bernard Korir told the Star the body was found afloat River Nyamindi by residents.
“The body was discovered last Sunday, May 16, in the downstream area of the Nyamindi river. It was found naked and had deep cuts in the face,” he said.

An autopsy carried out on the body of Somali-American businessman Bashir Mohamed Mohamud on Monday, May 24 revealed that he died of strangulation.
According to the post mortem results conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor at Umash funeral home, Nairobi County, Bashir s body showed signs of torture, including multiple wounds on the head caused by blunt objects as well as burn wounds on the body.
His body showed trauma on the head, burns on his body, there s evidence of torture on his toes and knees. The postmortem was done in the presence of police officers from Dagoretti and officers from the Forensic Department of the DCI. ....
