TUCSON (KVOA) – The holiday weekend is upon us and we know it s the first holiday weekend since many COVID-19 protocols have been lifted.
You should expect a large influx of cars on the road and planes in the sky this Memorial Day Weekend.
In fact, AAA is saying that travel here in the Grand Canyon State is up 61%. That means that they re expecting more than 765,000 Arizonans to either hit the road or the skies this weekend for the unofficial start of summer.
Top destinations include Las Vegas, Orlando, Denver, Myrtle Beach and Nashville. And, Tucson International Airport has nonstops to both Las Vegas and Denver. ....

Project 80/90 opens second round of grants for double bassists in need

Having already delivered over sixty $500 grants, Project 80/90 - the initiative founded by double bassists Gary Karr and François Rabbath to help double bassists in need due to the global pandemic - is reopening for a second round of grant applications, thanks to a gift of $50,000 from Gary Karr.
Bassists in need of assistance are invited to apply for a $500 USD grant. Although the project has been delivered with the help of the International Society of Bassists, ISB membership is not required by those applying for a grant. Those who previously received a Project 80/90 grant and are still in need are welcome to reapply. The names of those receiving Project 80/90 grants will not be published. ....

A Portugal laurel has been trained and trimmed into a horizontal sculpture. David planted a tiny sapling in 2006. “It was about a quarter-inch in diameter and it took six seasons to get the branches all the way to the top. I clipped off all but two branches at each level for horizontals.” He has a stock of orchard ladders of different heights and finds pruning meditative and fun. He created the arched doorway in the hedge, right, by growing plants up both sides, then guiding pieces across the top by tyin ....
