MSPs in indyref pledge as SNP dominate Glasgow again

Glasgow’s SNP MSPs have all said they will be pushing ahead for a second independence referendum.
The city re-elected thenationalists in all eight seats once again as the party won another election in Glasgow and across Scotland.
After two days of counting at the Emirates Arena, the election map in Glasgow is exactly the same as it was in 2016.
While there are four new MSPs representing the city, the results for each party were the same as five years ago.
The SNP once again won all eight constituency seats.
In the regional list the arithmetic to decide who get the seats based on proportionality produced the same result as it did at the last election. ....

Nicola Sturgeon says racists not welcome in Scotland after Glasgow Southside win

THE Glasgow count was the scene of one of the most high-profile contests of the election between the leaders of the SNP and Labour.
There was little surprise when Nicola Sturgeon comfortably saw off the challenge from Anas Sarwar in the Glasgow Southside constituency, winning a majority of nearly 9500.
It was a pattern that was repeated with SNP MSPs holding their seats in the three other Glasgow constituencies which were declared yesterday.
Instead, the main theme at the count, held in the city’s Emirates Arena, was defeating intolerance and bigotry.
One of the candidates standing against Sturgeon was independent candidate Jayda Fransen, who had confronted the SNP leader in a tense incident outside a polling station on Thursday. ....

Scottish election: Snow way weather will stop Scottish voters

THE Scottish Parliament election is snow joke especially when May 6 feels like a winters day.
Activists across the country have been working to get out the vote, with polling stations open from 7am for 15 hours of Covid-compliant voting.
It s known that fair weather helps increase turnout. But it s been baltic in many areas of Scotland.
With frigid rain in some parts and plenty of snow in others, activists have had to wrap up to encourage the public to use their votes.
But there s still been a flurry of activity.
Kate Forbes, standing for the SNP in Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, shared a pic of this snowman, saying: This is how we get the vote out in Scotland for a May election. ....
