20,000 students students to benefit under ‘Veedu oru vidyalayam’ project
With digital divide continuing to be a matter of concern in the new academic year, the Kerala School Teachers’ Association (KSTA) has launched a project to ensure facilities for education in students’ homes.
‘Veedu oru vidyalayam’ is aimed at getting across the message that teachers are with students for ensuring access to digital classes. A total of 20,000 students will be provided with digital equipment and study material for uninterrupted learning.
The project will focus on coastal, hilly, and tribal areas of the State. Digital equipment, facilities for practicals, equipment for mathematics, library books, mobile recharge facilities, cable/Internet availability, textbooks and other support will be made avail ....

Minister inaugurates distribution of pulse oximeters
All teachers should work as front-line warriors in the battle against COVID-19, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said
He was speaking after inaugurating here on Friday the State-level distribution of pulse oximeters purchased by the Kerala School Teachers’ Association (KSTA) through a pulse oximeter challenge.
The Minister praised the social responsibility displayed by the KSTA during the pandemic. The pulse oximeter challenge was launched to address the shortage of pulse oximeters in the second wave of COVID-19 transmission in the State.
Exceeds target
Though the KSTA had targeted to hand over pulse oximeters to the tune of ₹1 crore in the first phase, the response had been so positive that it exceeded the target, a KSTA office-bearer said. ....

Govt. seeks to put off SSLC, Plus Two exams


The State government has sought the postponement of the SSLC and Plus Two examinations.
It has written to the Chief Electoral Officer seeking postponement of the examinations, scheduled to begin on March 17, citing the upcoming Assembly elections.
After April 6
Election training and duty for a number of teachers and arrangements for polling in schools, many of which function as polling stations, are learnt to be the reasons cited by the government. It is of the opinion that the examinations could be held after the polling on April 6.
Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said he had received the government representation pertaining to the examinations. It would be examined and sent to the Election Commission of India (ECI). A General Education Department official said the ECI response was expected by Tuesday. ....
