1.75 lakh new admissions in State schools


Increase the result of improvement in infrastructure: CM
As many as 1.75 lakh new students took admission in classes 1 to 10 in State schools this academic year.
A statement from the Chief Minister’s office said these figures were recorded on the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE)’s Sampoorna school management portal till December 28.
A total of 6.8 lakh students have joined State schools in the four years since the implementation of the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission, the statement said.
In class 1 alone, 8,170 more students took admission this year as compared to the previous year. The maximum number of students who took admission was in class 5 – 43,789 more students than the year before. In class 8, 35,606 more students took admission. ....

Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac on Tuesday appeared before the Privileges and Ethics Committee of the Legislative Assembly in connection with the alleged leakage of a CAG audit report on the Kerala Infrastructure and Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
Dr. Isaac appeared before the nine-member committee headed by A. Pradeep Kumar, after Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan had referred a breach of privilege notice moved by the Congress legislator V.D. Satheesan against the Finance Minister. ....

Talks will be held to sort out the issues that were raised after the beautification of S.M. Street in the city, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
He was responding to suggestions from people from different walks of life at the Kozhikode district-leg of the ‘Kerala Paryadanam’ (Kerala Tour), an interactive session with people from different walks of life, at the Government Higher Secondary School, Karaparamba, here on Sunday. ....

No excess pressure on students: KITE


First Bell lessons for Class 10 will be wound up by January
Thiruvananthapuram Rescheduling of the First Bell digital classes with telecast of more sessions for Classes 10 and 12 students (Plus Two) who appear for public examinations has been done without burdening students excessively, a statement from KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education) on Saturday said.
The First Bell lessons for Class 10 would be wound up by January, the time scheduled for completion of their portions. In fact, classes for half the subjects would be over by the first week of January.
Some more time could be needed for science subjects for Class 12 students. The maximum of two-and-a-half hours of classes a day for a student could be stretched to three hours on rare days. Besides retelecast, the classes are available on the portal firstbell.kite.kerala.gov.in for viewing at a convenient time later. ....
