A 28-year-old woman was driving the Chevrolet, and she sustained serious injuries, police stated. Boham on Monday said police are working to determine what could have caused the crash to occur. “We re looking at any possibility that could have made this happen, including some type of medical emergency,” he said. “But we probably won t know that for quite some time.” Boham said Beattie’s vehicle appeared to be speeding at the time. “I can t say how much she was speeding,” Boham said. “She hit with such force that both vehicles went over the embankment.” A third vehicle, a 2006 Toyota truck, got “clipped in the rear” in the incident, according to police. The Buick driver, a woman, was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, while the passenger, a man, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, Boham said. Both sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Lexus, a woman, had minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital, Boham said. Boham said there were no signs of impairment. ST. LUCIE COUNTY Police Wednesday identified the person who died in a car crash early Tuesaday in Port St. Lucie.. Brandy Wells, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 9300 block of U.S. 1, not far from the MidFlorida Credit Union Event Center, around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from Port St. Lucie police. Port St. Lucie police Sgt. Keith Boham said traffic homicide investigators believe Wells drove over a median as she headed south in her Nissan Versa, hit a street sign and crashed into a tree. ....
