To take you along with us on this journey and allow you the opportunity to give some input as well,” said Board member Gwyn Gittens, who took on the job of creating the website with the communications department, Tuesday night. The interim superintendent search webpage, which can be found at www.leeschools.net, will include information on the search process, how to get involved and information about the position. The “how to get involved” portion of the webpage, includes links to watch the board meeting, view the agenda, email the board members and keep track of dates on personal calendars. Gittens said another key part of this section is letting the community know which meetings include public comment, as it has “PC” next to the calendar item.

Academy program approved for Veterans Park school By MEGHAN BRADBURY - | Apr 21, 2021 Gwyn Gittens The Lee County School District board gave its nod of approval to move forward with a pre-K through eighth grade academy program for Veterans Park Academy for the Arts last week. The school board received an update which included a report from a meeting held on March 30 with the community. Community Event The March 30 community event was held to gather input on two concepts the board envisioned for the project, an elementary pre-K-5 and middle 6-8 school, or one large pre-K-8 school. Community Engagement Coordinator Adam Molloy said the event was extremely well attended and engagement with the process was extremely visible.

The code of conduct was voted on and approved by every member of Lee County School Board and all parents of students in the District. Although parents are upset about some LGBTQ polices, part of their concerns for polices come as a misunderstanding that all bathrooms in Lee County schools would become unisex bathrooms.
