With shovels in hand, officials with the Milton Area School District officially broke ground for the district s $12 million athletic complex. Our stadium was built in 1948, so we have really made some great strides and improvements in working towards a brand new athletic complex, Superintendent Dr. Cathy Keegan said. The new stadium will have a turf field and an all-weather track. First of all, it s going to improve our playing, smoother ground. I think it will honestly bring more people out to come and see the games, or maybe even be a part of the band because it s a better environment, Ashley Shamblen said. ....

We have to cut the hours just to break even.â ....
SUNBURY â The Northumberland County Commissioners on Thursday doled out more than $1.7 million in County Relief Block Grant (CRBG) funding through the federal CARES Act to municipalities, schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations. Commissioner Chair Sam Schiccatano said SEDA-COG accepted applications on behalf of the county from the entities applying for the funds. After SEDA-COG reviewed the applications to see if funding criteria was met, Schiccatano said the commissioners made the final decisions on how to award the funding. He noted that many municipalities received funding to replace radios and related equipment for police and fire personnel. This (pandemic) was a reason to improve communication, Schiccatano said. A lot of the radios that were replaced were old radios. ....

Several school officials across the region said there is some value to kids getting a break right now. The Valley is expected to get hit by one of the largest snowstorms to hit the region in years beginning this afternoon. A foot of snow or more is expected to fall on the region. Selinsgrove begins remote learning today and will do so until Christmas break begins next week. On Monday, Superintendent Frank Jankowski said a traditional snow day is an option on Thursday within the decision-making process for these types of weather events.
