Actors say they have not been paid for their work on 'Roe v. Wade' film – Catholic World Report

Washington D.C., Apr 8, 2019 / 04:00 pm (CNA).- Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg has criticized Vice President Mike Pence for his views on gay marriage, saying that his civil marriage to his same-sex partner has led him closer to God.
Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, contracted a civil marriage with his partner Chasten, in a June 2018 Episcopalian ceremony.
Before he became vice president, Pence was Indiana’s governor from 2013 until 2017. In that office, he supported an attempt to amend the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman, and signed the 2015 Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law. The act was criticized by gay rights activists as permitting discrimination by religious organizations. ....

ORLANDO, Fla. (CNS) The independent drama “Roe v. Wade” had its red-carpet premiere, billed as the first large-scale movie opening since the pandemic began, on Feb. 26 at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando.
The event at last allowed viewers to evaluate for themselves this decidedly pro-life production dramatizing the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion across the United States. Like that landmark ruling, the film has predictably been the subject of much controversy.

As is the case with many a finished feature, the warm reception accorded “Roe v. Wade” at CPAC belied the movie’s arduous birth pangs. In this case, though, those travails were more political than cinematic. ....

'Roe v. Wade' Movie To Premiere Friday To CPAC's Sold-Out Crowd

Filmmaker Nick Loeb’s fourth film “Roe v. Wade,” which chronicles the landmark 1973 abortion decision, will premiere at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Friday. “Roe v. Wade” will release in April on Amazon Prime and iTunes for viewing.
With sold-out tickets for CPAC and former President Donald Trump set to speak on Sunday, this will undoubtedly be a major platform for the film.
“Because the movie aligns with the conservative message, I reached out to CPAC to see if they would have any interest in holding it during the event because it’s in Florida and they’ve got a giant space that will accommodate social distancing,” Loeb told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. “The actual event space that will show the movie can hold 1,500 people with social distancing. That’s huge, so I couldn’t turn that down. If I went and had a premiere in Orlando without CPAC, there wouldn’t be any press. It was a no-brainer for us.” ....
