Kenora Supportive Housing (KSH) has a mission to provide safe and affordable long-term housing and short-term respite housing to individuals who have been diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness who are at a risk or are homeless. The KSH building is in need of major repairs to its roof and the cost to repair it is anticipated at $17,000.00. Unfortunately due to capital funding distribution, CMHA Kenora only receives $1800.00 annually to cover infrastructure costs for the KSH program. If the repairs can not be done, individuals will be displaced and potentially homeless. ....
More money to combat human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of youth. Indigenous Affairs minister Greg Rickford announced just over a million dollars to the Kenora Chiefs Advisory so they can work with other agencies in the community on those problems. “Front line workers, the OPP, Treaty 3 Police, the mobile support unit…everybody kind of coordinating their services…working together…identifying particularly vulnerable young girls and boys, frankly, particularly susceptible to human trafficking,” explains Rickford.
