COVID-19 Hospitalizations Decrease In Catawba County: Monday Morning Update

COVID-19 hospitalizations fell in Catawba County Monday (March 1), dropping to 32 from 43 Sunday (February 28). One coronavirus-associated death was reported Monday, raising the total to 283. After back-to-back days of single digit case counts there were 35 new cases of the virus reported Monday, increasing the overall total to 17,090.
28 new cases of the coronavirus were reported by Burke County health officials Monday, increasing the total to 9,450, with 140 deaths. Eight people were hospitalized. 26 new cases were reported between Friday (February 26) and Monday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 8,683, with 134 deaths. There were 13 people hospitalized.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A man accused of fatally stabbing his own mother was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement officials at a home in Catawba County Monday morning.
The incident began around 9 a.m. at a home on 28th Street NE in Hickory. Officials say a man, identified as 29-year-old Billy Hahn Jr, was wanted in connection with the deadly stabbing of a woman that occurred on 16th Street Dr. NE, a few miles away from the 28th St. home, at around 2 a.m.
