KALISPELL â The Flathead County Health Department (FCCHD) has teamed up with a local non-profit providing free HEPA portable air cleaners for at-risk people in the Flathead.
âSenior citizens, people with health problems but also family with infants because infants have developing systems and so theyâre also another group that are at-risk,â Climate Smart Glacier Country Board Member Kate McMahon tells MTN News.
Climate Smart Glacier Country has teamed up with the FCCHD in providing free HEPA filters to Flathead individuals more prone to health problems due to wildfire smoke.
McMahon said Climate Smart Glacier Country works toward local solutions and education regarding climate change. She noted at-risk individuals including those with lung or heart disease need to take extra precautions during the summer months to protect their health from wildfire smoke.

Many families in the U.S. struggle to find affordable, quality child care. But there is one group that has access to what some say is the gold standard of child care for Americans. That is families in the military.
The lack of affordable child care is not just an issue in urban and suburban communities. In rural America, limited access also takes a toll on small town economies. Special correspondent Cat Wise and producer Kate McMahon traveled to Nebraska to see how two small towns there are working to solve their child care problems as part of our series, Raising the Future: America’s child care dilemma.”
