UAlbany women’s lacrosse falls again to Stony Brook in America East final | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 UAlbany couldn’t break its long losing streak Saturday against Stony Brook, as the Seawolves won yet another America East Conference women’s lacrosse championship. With a 16-9 win at its home Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Long Island, Stony Brook secured its eighth consecutive league championship. All eight of those title victories have come against a Great Danes program that has appeared in the last 10 conference championship games. “We gave it our all,” UAlbany graduate student Madison Conway said during a post-game teleconference of the Great Danes’ effort. ....
Thursday May 6th, 2021 9:00am (Inside Lacrosse Photo: Phil Armato) In a season full of surprises, a pair of favorites punched their tickets to the NCAA Tournament last weekend, with UNC winning the ACC and Northwestern taking the Big Ten crown. Outside of the Power Five, High Point secured its fourth-straight NCAA Tournament automatic qualifier by winning the Big South. But donât use a pen if youâre trying Bracketology at home. First-half run lifts Syracuse women’s lacrosse past UAlbany | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 ALBANY The University at Albany women’s lacrosse team played solid defense out the outset of its game with third-ranked Syracuse Tuesday afternoon. The Orange, though, weren’t giving up anything, either. “I thought we started the game really strong, holding them [down] for about nine minutes,” UAlbany head coach Katie Rowan Thomson said. “And then that period of time when they went on a run, we weren’t putting away our opportunities. Decision-making in the first half could have been better.” Syracuse strung together 12 unanswered first-half goals after the early stalemate, and while UAlbany answered with a run of its own to start the second half, it wasn’t enough to change its fate in a 16-6 non-conference loss at John Fallon Field. ....
