Dr Hilary Flett is leading on the St Helens GP vaccination programme EFFORTS to vaccinate the people of St Helens are on course to reach a major milestone this week. The primary care network-led arm of St Helens’ vaccination programme has been up and running since December, with GP practices working flat through the top four priority groups. Mass vaccination clinics, supported by an army of volunteers, are being held at Saints’ rugby stadium near almost every day, dependent on supplies. It is understood GPs are on course to deliver 25,000 Covid jabs by Wednesday, as they work their way through the over 70s and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals. ....
GP practices have been working flat out since it started offering the Pfizer vaccine in December. In recent weeks, they have been working through its housebound patients, following the arrival Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. This week, staff from Marshalls Cross Medical Centre visited 15 housebound patients, some of whom had previously declined the vaccine or had not been able to have it due to medical reasons. A spokesman for St Helens CCG has confirmed that this means 1,100 housebound patients have now been given an initial dose of a Covid vaccine. Rita Bustacchini, from Sutton, was one of the patients to receive her vaccine from the team at home yesterday. ....
Coaches, students and parents came together on Dec. 15 to honor the Jackson High School Lady Devils volleyball team on their awards night. Varsity and JV players received certificates, with some receiving letters for their jackets for the first time, while others received bars to go on their letters. Athletic Director Mickey Moody opened the program by thanking the parents and coaches for their efforts this season. âParents, thank you so much for your support of our season,â Moody said. âYour girls worked hard every single day.
