Kerala CM says the state had drawn up a concrete plan to ensure returning NRKs rehabilitation and welfare.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who swept back into power for a record second term just recently, said his new government would “not leave any stone unturned” in its mission to repay non-resident Keralites for their inestimable contributions.
The veteran Communist Party leader, who led the Left Democratic Front to a landslide win on a rare pro-incumbency wave, described NRKs, whose remittances have been the backbone of the state’s economy, as an “integral part of our life and development”.

When India’s second coronavirus wave slammed the country last month, leaving many cities without enough doctors, nurses, hospital beds or lifesaving oxygen to cope, Sajeev V.B. got the help he needed.
Local health workers quarantined Sajeev, a 52-year-old mechanic, at home and connected him with a doctor over the phone. When he grew sicker, they mustered an ambulance that took him to a public hospital with an available bed. Oxygen was plentiful. He left 12 days later and was not billed for his treatment.
“I have no clue how the system works,” Sajeev said. “All that I did was to inform my local health worker when I tested positive. They took over everything from that point.”

Replaces Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala
Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has been replaced by younger VD Satheesan as Opposition leader in Kerala in what is perceived here as generational change forced by the party High Command after a lot of dithering during more than two weeks after election results were announced.
This is tectonic shift in the Congress riven by factional feud led by senior-most leader Oommen Chandy on one side and Ramesh Chenntihala himself on the other. In fact, both had closed ranks after it emerged that the party High Command was converging on a third choice and common beta noire – Satheesan.
