Annual Red Cross blood drive remembers Leah Jean-Lacher Reay The Salina Journal Leah Jean-Lacher Reay touched many lives with her generosity and enthusiasm before her death in a traffic collision on Jan. 22, 2017. Join the Salina community in remembering Reay by donating blood at the annual American Red Cross blood drive held in her memory May 12 from noon to 6 p.m., at the Temple, 336 S. Santa Fe. Before moving home to California in 2015, Reay, a 2013 Kansas Wesleyan University Nursing Science graduate, worked for the Salina Regional Health Center and served as a mentor for Salina youth. As a nurse and a regular blood donor, Reay also understood the importance of blood donation. ....

On Thursday, Caledon OPP got a call about a pickup truck stuck in a public park after driving through it. When police arrived, the driver was asked for a breath test, which he failed. 57-year-old Kevin Rae was charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mgs. ....

Photo: Red Cross Madagascar Disaster teams in the Kruger National Park, and external role players, have been put on high alert as Tropical Storm Eloise approaches. The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned that various parts of the Kruger, particularly in the far north, will be affected by major rainfall and strong winds over the coming weekend, specifically on Sunday, 24 January 2021 as Tropical Storm Eloise intensifies and is expected to become a Tropical Cyclone. “Our scientists, in conjunction with the South African Weather Services are closely monitoring developments and will advise on whether we need to evacuate camps in the affected areas or not. As a precautionary measure, we have already closed all gravel roads and some facilities in the Pafuri area after heavy rains which fell in the evening of 20 January 2021,” said Managing Executive at the KNP, Gareth Coleman. ....
