Kippford s Solway Yacht Club holds virtual prizegiving to mark 2020 season Daily Record 29/01/2021 Stuart Gillespie Solway Yacht Club still managed to hold its mid-winter prize-giving to celebrate the previous season’s winners despite the current restrictions. This year, it had to be an online virtual event and, as well as honouring the winners, Club Commodore Robert Dinwiddie arranged a clever, sailing-themed cartoon competition that attracted entries from adult and cadet members. Welcoming quite a crowd of members who’d joined online, the Commodore thanked everyone who’d helped organise the event. Using a power point presentation, he talked about the main trophy awarded for the club championship – the Tordoff Cup. ....

Advisory for Healthy Families and Workplace Act Thursday Jan 7th, 2021 Small Colorado farms and ranches were surprised to learn they do not have a year to prepare for one section of the state’s new Healthy Families and Workplace Act. The legislation is written in two parts. The first is a paid sick leave program. (that provides up to 48 hours of sick leave to employees) The second part of the HFWA relates to supplemental leave during public health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides up to 80 hours of paid leave for employees who have to deal with a COVID-19 illness themselves or in the family. It also provides paid leave for childcare and those with underlying health conditions during a public health emergency. ....
