COVID-19, however, spurred the grocery chain to enhance those services, realizing that people would need more contact-less options in order to avoid spread of the virus. âI think the big thing that we learned during the process was how important those offerings were,â said Kevin Stafford, the vice president of marketing at Food City, âand the fact that we had them in place already and had them as an option to our customers was very important.â During the pandemic, Stafford said, Food City expanded curbside pickup to 14 additional stores, bringing the service to 70 locations. Stafford said the company also managed to improve technology behind the scenes to streamline the customer experience and operations at a store level. ....

In her first meeting as president of the Columbus Municipal School District Board of Trustees, Yvonne Cox considered an issue that first came before the board in 2018. “It’s like Groundhog Day,” city engineer Kevin Stafford said as he addressed the board about a district-wide paving project first proposed in December 2018. “If you will recall then, we talked about paving throughout the district, but mainly at the football stadium,” Stafford said. “That parking lot had deteriorated then and it’s not linear. It has deteriorated even more since, especially at the north end which is used daily. That area is, by far, the most deteriorated.” ....
Gavin embraces ambitious projects in mayor seat Vice Mayor Bill Gavin sits in at his makeshift office in City Hall on Friday. City looks to federal funding for $3.5M in infrastructure projects Pictured is a rendering for a proposed $1.15 million project to add sidewalks, crosswalks, islands and landscaping to Fifth Street North. City officials have passed on renderings to Rep. Trent Kelly’s office in hopes of this and three other projects receiving funding if Congress passes a $3 trillion package that includes $1 trillion for infrastructure improvements throughout the country. Vice Mayor Bill Gavin and City Engineer Kevin Stafford stressed the plans are still only potential projects and that Columbus may not receive funding for all or any of them. Columbus officials plan to make a pitch to congressional representatives for funding of up to four infrastructure projects that would improve streets and drainage in the city. ....
