Facebook Share Billy Grier, 50, was homeless and struggling with an untreated mental illness. He ran into an old friend on Christmas and said he finally got set up with a social worker who was going to help him get treatment for his condition. But Grier died before he could get the help he had been waiting for. Someone fatally shot Grier Monday as he stood among several other people outside a corner store at North Sixth and Woodbine streets, where he was known to visit each day. Prosecutors don’t believe he was the intended target.

Police Commissioner Thomas Carter says he wants to get guns off the street and prevent youths from joining neighborhood gangs. Mayor Eric Papenfuse introduced a city budget that creates a community policing division entirely devoted to developing the partnership between Harrisburg residents and the officers that patrol their neighborhoods.

The group expects to help more than 300 families in what has been an extremely hard year.  With the Covid going on this year, it makes it more difficult for us to serve the people we usually serve, said Dr. Kevin Dolphin, Breaking the Chainz, Inc. Founder & President. So this is a very needy time especially with the economy the way that it is, any way that Breaking the Chainz can help serve the people and the community, that s what we do.
