Tributes poured in on Tuesday shortly after Marc Pingris announced that he s officially calling it a career.
The 6-foot-5 charismatic bruiser on Tuesday shared in a heartfelt Instagram post that his storied PBA career has culminated and that he s ready to open another chapter in his life.
But as he moves forward, fellow athletes, personalities, and fans looked back and paid homage to the man phenomenally called the Pinoy Sakuragi.
NLEX guard Kevin Alas said in a short comment to the post, Congrats kuya Ping! God Bless! ....

Three teams make trade moves ahead of league rookie draft

THREE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams made trade moves ahead of the league rookie draft this weekend.
In an announcement on Thursday, the league said the NLEX Road Warriors, Blackwater Bossing and TNT Tropang GIGA figured in a three-way trade involving rookie picks and young veteran players.
The player swaps, which were approved by the PBA trade committee, have NLEX trading its number four pick in the first round of the rookie draft on March 14 to Blackwater in exchange for guard Roi Sumang, forward Don Trollano, center Maurice Shaw and the Bossing’s 2022 second-round draft pick. ....

Yeng Guiao shares wisdom behind having a deep rotation

Known for developing players to operate his deep rotation, NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao emphasized the importance of giving cagers a break to prove themselves in the PBA. 
And that means providing them sufficient minutes to showcase their wares. 
“Ang hinahanap lang ng karamihang player (What most players look for is) ‘just give me a break.’ When you say break, you’re not saying playing only two to three minutes,” said Guiao, noting that a fleeting playing time only destroys a player’s confidence.  
Guiao, also the general manager of the Road Warriors, said a court action of seven to eight minutes may be enough for a player to prove his worth and get a chance to be reinserted into the game.  ....

PBA News: Last time Abueva, Sangalang teamed up, they won a title with NLEX

VICTORIOUS were Calvin Abueva and Ian Sangalang the last time they teamed up outside of San Sebastian as they steered NLEX to the 2012 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
It was nine years ago when the Cabalen duo, then playing for the Road Warriors in the developmental ranks, steamrolled the competition and completed a perfect 13-0 season, capped off by a two-game sweep of Big Chill in the Finals.
NLEX effectively cemented its dynasty in the newly formed league, winning its third crown in as many conferences.
But the Road Warriors winning the championship in this tourney shouldn t really come as a surprise. After all, they didn t just have Abueva and Sangalang, but also had a bevy of bluechip talents in the amateur ranks. ....
