Why Raila no longer sits pretty in the Handshake

THE STANDARD By Allan Mungai | March 14th 2021 at 11:24:24 GMT +0300 The entry of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi into the BBI train might be causing jitters among allies of ODM chief Raila Odinga. The unease, as alluded to by Siaya Senator James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo in their remarks about State interference, points to a Handshake partner worried of forces trying to outsmart him. Initially, not in the Handshake agreement between President Kenyatta and Raila, Gideon and Mudavadi are now on the train. To Raila’s allies, Gideon, whose party Kanu has a pact with Jubilee Party, and Mudavadi, who is a member of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) outfit, are not direct beneficiaries of the Handshake but are roped in on the basis of their alliances.

ODM told to ditch Uhuru if unhappy with deal

[Collins Oduor, Standard] Wiper and ANC have hit out at their coalition partner ODM over its members’ reported discomfort with party leader Raila Odinga’s handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta. The two parties, which are ODM’s partners in the National Super Alliance (NASA), dared the Orange party to walk out of the arrangement with President Kenyatta if they were aggrieved. ANC National Chairman Kelvin Lunani said they should not “bother consummating a relationship based on threats, intimation and ransom politics”.
