At the May 11 monthly meeting of the Candor Town Board, Ed Evans, chairman of the Candor Town Planning Board, reported on completing the final draft of the changes to the Seasonal Use Law. He talked about the planning board changing the wording to make the law more readable, but now it is in the hands of the town board.  Former town board member Matt Crowe was on hand asking a lot of questions about the Seasonal Use Law and the figures the Planning Board had come up with. Evans tried to answer some of his questions, but the town board is still reviewing, and Supervisor Bill Strosahl mentioned it will be publicizing the changes in the paper and having a public hearing before anything is passed. ....
Driver escapes vehicle struck by train near Lake Barrington
Updated 3/12/2021 11:12 AM A driver was able to safely exit a vehicle stopped on the railroad tracks near Kelsey Road and Route 14 adjacent to Lake Barrington before that vehicle was struck by a Metra train at about 6:42 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported. Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District crews arrived in under two minutes after the call.
Those crews determined that the motor vehicle was on the tracks when the railroad crossing system was activated by the approaching train. The fire district declined further comment on the status of the individuals involved. ....

Caistor Cemetery EMN-210126-080957001 Outline planning permission for the development on land to the rear of 132 North Kelsey Road has been submitted to West Lindsey District Council. At last week’s meeting of Caistor Town Council, councillors had the opportunity to comment.. Coun Steve Critten highlighted that the land in question, which is next to Caistor cemetery, was in the civic and commercial zone on the historic landscape characterisation plan within the Castor Neighbourhood Plan. However, acting clerk Helen Pitman told the meeting she did not believe it had been identified as a specific site, but added there was obviously potential to extend the cemetery there. ....
