How Grand Rapids Comic Con organizers plan to pull event off amid COVID with Boba Fett reunion Updated 8:15 AM; Facebook Share GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Not one, but three Boba Fetts will be flying into Grand Rapids for one of the biggest comic cons in Michigan and the first since the COVID pandemic hit more than a year ago. Organizers canceled Grand Rapids Comic Con in 2020 due to COVID and announced a “Spring Fling” for this April, but postponed that for what they are now calling a “Summer Bash,” happening at the DeltaPlex Arena and Conference Center in Walker from Friday, August 13 through Sunday, August 15. ....

Awards winners for 30 categories in music, sound design, dialogue, mixing and more. Co-hosted by composers Rachel Robison and Cody Matthew Johnson, the virtual event was streamed live on Twitch.tv for the second year in a row. “The Last of Us Part II” took home the most awards of the night with eight wins including audio of the year, followed by “Ghost of Tsushima” with five wins. Composer Gordy Haab, who won the music of the year award for his work on “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” received the titular prize for the second year in a row for composing the score for “Star Wars: Squadrons.” With three wins, “Hades” was the indie game to take home the most awards. ....
Grand Rapids Comic Con 2021 Is Scheduled for April Get your costume and comfortable shoes picked out. Grand Rapids Comic Con Spring Fling is scheduled for April 9-11 at the Delta Plex Arena. This is a comic book and popular arts convention. The show will feature a huge vending room with vendors selling comic books, anime/manga, movie memorabilia, action figures, toys, and other cool stuff. The event was originally planned for November of 2020. Guests can still expect to see a few Hollywood celebrities, a good amount of comic book artists, a film festival, costume contests, a gaming room including electronic and board games, a car show and West Michigan LEGOs train display. ....
