Amanda Price, in an interview with The Associated Press, said Dunleavy chief of staff Ben Stevens told her Dunleavy wants âto go in a different direction with Public Safety. When I asked what direction that might be, he had no answer.â She said she was told she could be removed, without an opportunity to communicate with her team, or tender her resignation and have an opportunity to inform her core team and department. ....

In an email Friday afternoon announcing Price’s resignation as head of the Alaska Department of Public Safety, the governor’s office offered no reason for her stepping down. But Price told the Daily News she spoke to the governor’s chief of staff, Ben Stevens, on Friday and was given a choice: Resign or be fired without a chance to say goodbye to her staff. “It was put to me as I will either be removed or I can submit my resignation,” she said.
