06/29/2021 The Athletic has tried many different forays into the world of podcasts and video content, and not all of those have lasted. And, beyond that, while some of their high-profile additions have stuck around for the long term, others have been caught up inlayoffs, approach-shiftingcuts, or contract non-renewals. So it’s certainly notable to see one of their efforts well outside their typical written content not only extended, but expanded. That’s the case with “No Dunks,” the daily podcast/videocast from the crew formerly known as “The Starters” (during their six-year run with NBA TV) and “The Basketball Jones” (during their independent run, which dates back to 2006, with J.E. 05/03/2021 Yahoo is on the move as Verizon is selling its media properties to Apollo Global Management Group. The sale was reported to be in the works last week and is now being completed for a total of $5 billion. Verizon will maintain a 10 percent stake in the company, which will continue to be known as Yahoo. Along with Yahoo Finance, AOL media brands including TechCrunch and Engadget are also being acquired by Apollo. Verizon previously sold another of its media properties, HuffPost, to BuzzFeed last year. This continues a downward trend for Yahoo, which shut down Yahoo Answers and its go90 streaming video service, in addition to selling Tumblr to Automattic in 2019. ....
