A MAN charged with attempted murder over a suspected machete attack in east Belfast may have sliced off part of his own ear, a court heard yesterday.
Police claimed 45-year-old Thomas Lee Ross could have inflicted self injuries as he allegedly struck out during a drink and drugs-fuelled row in the Greenway area on Tuesday.
A man in his thirties is in a critical condition following the incident near the Kilbroney House block of flats.

What do you love about your job? There are many things I love about my job! As far as being on air, I love to connect with people and use the radio as an outlet to spread positivity and bring attention to great causes. I do a lot with animal rescue. When it comes to the production/imaging and voice over part of my job, I love to create. I love to create and know what I put out on air will be heard by many and hopefully make them smile, or get a message across in a way that I heard and visualized in my head. As we all know, this year was strange. Every part of our lives was upended, and for those whose work involves live performances, this was an understatement. Collectively, we have lost so much during the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with epic loss of life and livelihoods, we have lost intimate connections with friends and loved ones. We have also lost the experience of being an audience â united in a time and place, attention rapt, heartbeats in sync, inhaling a singular performance and exhaling applause.
