Significant expansion proposed for Eye on the Street camera system

An Eye On The Street camera at Red River Rd. and Court St. in Thunder Bay (TBNewswatch file) THUNDER BAY  If city council approves a proposal from the Thunder Bay Police Service and city administration, the Eye on the Street camera system will receive new equipment and expand to multiple new locations around the city. The community safety initiative was implemented in 2005, and currently includes closed-circuit video monitoring at 13 locations in the downtown cores and Business Improvement Areas. Now, more than 40 potential locations have been identified as high value for live monitoring and continuous recording in consultation with the TBPS Criminal Investigations Branch and the City of Thunder Bay s Crime Prevention Council.

The award is in recognition of Dr Marshall’s outstanding and ongoing contribution to Massey University and the New Zealand food sector in multiple leadership, advisory and governance roles.  In his citation at the College of Sciences graduation ceremony, Professor Jeremy Hill said Dr Marshall has had a profound impact and has “made a real difference to not only Massey University and the national food sector, but to New Zealand and the global food sector.

Chairman of the Debe/Penal regional corporation Dr Allen Sammy and chairman of the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo regional corporation Henry Awong said there were people who needed this avenue to earn an income. They said the latest covid19 measures implemented by government have left many people unemployed or temporarily without jobs.
