RACQ Capricorn Rescue was tasked by Australian Maritime Safety Authority at 4.15am to a reported EPIRB that was set off in the Keppel Sands area. A number of people approached Livingstone Shire councillor Andrea Friend with questions at a “resident outreach” event in October, and Cr Friend went back to the authority in search of answers. Cr Friend sought information from the council on how much money Livingstone had spent at Keppel Sands in its capital works and events budget in 2019-20. The straight-shooting councillor also asked what money had been pledged in the current 2020-21 budget. ....

When intercepted at 11.10pm, Sullivan told police he had consumed 10 beers before driving from his Keppel Sands residence to Rockhampton. A police officer asked Sullivan if he knew where he was. In court, Sullivan was fined $700 and disqualified from driving for seven months. Jonathon Edward Stapleton, 44, was picked up by police who were patrolling Yeppoon Rd at 2am on November 10. He was intercepted for a registration and licence check but after submitting to a RBT, Stapleton blew 0.088. In court he was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for four months. ....

Monday On Monday, an empty aluminium boat floating off Keppel Sands was the trigger for a search for a possible missing occupant. At 3.58pm Keppel Sands Coast Guard was contacted by Yeppoon Coast Guard, advising that a member of the public had reported a vessel drifting fast in the strong winds. The vessel appeared to have come from Cooroman Creek and was drifting across the front of Keppel Sands. There was no sign of an occupant. ....
