Nonprofit hospitals and health systems want funding for new equipment, expansions in congressional earmarks

Earmarks are coming back in Congress, and nonprofit hospitals and health systems have asked lawmakers for new state-of-the-art medical equipment and expansions to behavioral health and emergency rooms.
The House Appropriations Committee released the requests from lawmakers for earmarks in the next appropriations bill. Those requests include new funding from major nonprofit hospitals and health systems for a variety of things ranging from new CT scanners to telehealth. ....

Erlanger Reschedules “Believe Bash” To Celebrate “Under the Big Top” In August

Erlanger Health System announces the annual Believe Bash has been rescheduled to Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Plans are underway for Erlanger’s Believe Bash celebrating “Under the Big Top” to roll into town on its new date in August. With the continuation of COVID-19 issues and health guidance for large gatherings, Erlanger Foundation has moved its annual gala to a new date to allow for more in-person attendees. This year will be a hybrid of both in-person and virtual options.
“This will continue to be an unconventional year for many of us in the nonprofit fundraising world, but critically important as the Erlanger Foundation’s Believe Bash remains one of our most significant opportunities to invite the community to participate in our mission,” stated Co-Chair Candy Johnson. “Through this, we will ....

He was a resident of Chattanooga and a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. James was retired from the Chattanooga Fire and Police Department, where he was instrumental in fabricating numerous police, fire, and rescue vehicles. After retirement, he was called to volunteer his fabricating skills on the firetruck at the Kennedy Outpatient Center at Erlanger. James also crafted the millennium time capsule for the City of Chattanooga, and helped build a beautiful birdhouse to present to the Chinese government of Wuxi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margie Dale Ray, and brother, Larry Ray. ....
