Salvation Army Falls Short Of Fundraising Goal, Extends Red Kettle Drive Through January
The Salvation Army is roughly $250,000 short of reaching its goal for the 2020 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign.
They did say that even though there were fewer red kettles spread across Wichita and Sedgwick County this season, cash donations saw an 11% increase.
The Red Kettle Drive will continue run through the end of January. Donations support the Salvation Army’s emergency homeless shelter, provide food for its food pantries, case management, and rent and utility assistance.
The annual drive is the primary source of funding for these programs and services. ....

The Salvation Army will be servicing more people this year and could use some extra help.
We have all seen and donated to the Salvation Army bell ringers at the stores this time of year. If you plan on donating as usual try and do it today and tomorrow (December 18th and December 19th) for a little added bonus. For the next two days, area businesses will be matching all the donations that come into the red kettles and online.
The annual Red Kettle fundraiser has been deemed Rescue Christmas this year by the Salvation Army. It has been estimated that the Salvation Army will be serving around 155% more people this year, so dig deep into those pockets. The goal in Genesee County is to raise $650,000 and Super Friday and Super Saturday are ways to help reach that goal.
