A general introduction to oil and gas law in Ghana Introductioni Historic overview The upstream oil and gas activities in Ghana consist of exploration, development and production of oil and gas. These activities are undertaken in five sedimentary basins within Ghana s territorial areas made up of the Tano Basin and Cape Three Points Basin in the Western Region (mostly referred to together as the Western Basin), the Saltpond Basin in the Central Region, the Accra/Keta Basin and the Inland Voltaian Basin. The Western Basin, Saltpond Basin and Accra/Keta Basin are all offshore and have been explored. The Inland Voltaian Basin is onshore and has not been really explored.

TG-GEOPARTNERS announced the signing of an agreement with the Petroleum Commission of Ghana to conduct a major Multi-Client 3D Geophysical Survey in the Keta Basin, offshore Ghana. The project will comprise the acquisition of 14,000 sq. km of 3D long-offset broadband Multi-Client seismic over open Blocks that will be available for application. Advanced new acquisition and imaging techniques will provide improved illumination of complex structures. Acquisition will commence in early 2021 and is expected to take 10 months to complete, with final processed volumes available in both time and depth by Q2 2022.
