New drive-up COVID-19 testing site to open at Ketchikan's state ferry terminal

Free drive-up COVID-19 testing in Ketchikan will resume Thursday at a new location: the parking lot of the Alaska Marine Highway System terminal. The new state-sponsored drive-up site replaces a locally-run testing clinic at Berth 3, which shut down last month.
Testing at the new site will be available daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Patients can also now expect to get their results immediately after the test. They will be asked to remain at the testing site until the 15-minute rapid test has completed. People previously received results within a few days. ....

SIX new virus cases recorded in KTN


KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center on Friday counted six new positive COVID-19 test results as the number of active cases in the community dropped to 76, according to an evening press release.
Three individuals were determined to be close contacts to known positive cases, one case was related to a congregate setting facility, and two of the cases remain under investigation, the EOC statement read.
According to the EOC dashboard on Friday, three virus cases have been connected to a congregate setting facility in the past seven days.
Of the pending cases from May 20, one was determined to be a close contact, three were determined to be community spread, and one remains under investigation, the release noted. ....

EOC charts four new virus cases


KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center on Friday charted four new COVID-19 cases — all involving symptomatic individuals — while one individual was hospitalized in the COVID-19 unit at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center according to a Friday press release.
According to the EOC release, two of the Friday cases involved close contacts of a known positive case, and two were still under investigation.
Of Ketchikan’s 452 cumulative cases, 252 have been linked to close contact with a known positive.
As of Friday evening, 17 cases of COVID-19 were still active in Ketchikan.
The local positivity rate dropped from 2.17% on Thursday to 1.93% on Friday, the EOC dashboard showed. ....

EOC: Two virus cases in KTN


KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday recorded two new cases of COVID-19 in the community, and Ketchikan Charter School announced that it would reopen for in-person learning on Wednesday after being closed to students and staff on Tuesday due to a positive case involving an individual connected to the school.
One of the cases recorded by the EOC on Tuesday involved a symptomatic individual, and one involved someone who was asymptomatic, according to a late Tuesday afternoon press release from the EOC.
One case was determined to be close contact to a known positive case, and one case remains under investigation, the EOC release read. ....
