Under construction roof of factory collapses in Ludhiana, one dead ANI | Updated: Apr 05, 2021 13:54 IST Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], April 5 (ANI): One person has died and at least ten others were injured after the under-construction roof of a factory collapsed in Giaspura Daba, Ludhiana on Monday. Punjab police, along with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) are present at the location and are carrying out rescue and relief operation. Commissioner of Police, along with Deputy Commissioner has also taken stock of the situation. As per official information, 36 of 40 people trapped under the roof have been rescued, while four people are still suspected to be trapped. ....
Credit Pec Playhouse Theatre. Snow and ice caused the roof to sink in at the PEC Playhouse Theatre in Pecatonica. No one was in the building at the time. Suzanne Wiegert is the president of the board of directors at the theater. She said there wasn’t an issue with the roof before the recent snowstorms but the day before the fall, a volunteer noticed that something was brewing. He alerted everyone and the building manager went to check. “He said, ‘Oh my gosh, nobody enter the building, I m certain it s going to collapse’ She said they put signs on the door advising people to keep out. “And then I think about 2 o clock in the afternoon is when they went to go check on it, with I believe the fire chief and the city mayor and it had collapsed.” ....
The incident was reported Monday night at the store on 32-49 49th Street around 7 p.m. Officials said they first noticed the side of a wall had collapsed and there was a heavy gas odor. Upon further investigation, Department of Buildings inspectors found that the roof had collapsed in and knocked over about 25 feet of brick wall which collapsed into the adjacent parking lot. They say gas plumbing lines and the building s sprinkler system were also damaged in the collapse. No one was trapped or hurt during the incident. The storage unit for Best Buy was closed at the time. ....
