His comments follow reports that cleaners, kitchen staff and administration workers at a charity in Limerick have been vaccinated against the virus. The Irish Mail on Sunday reports almost 70 employees at the Northside Family Resource Centre falsely represented themselves as frontline healthcare workers on the HSE s vaccination portal. Local gardaí or fire brigade staff were not offered leftover Covid-19 vaccines by doctors in the Coombe Hospital who gave the jabs to their own families, an independent review revealed yesterday. Coombe master Prof Michael O Connell, who was among doctors who gave left-over Covid-19 vaccines to own family members, told the review he thought of offering them to local gardaí or fire brigade staff but did not suggest it to colleagues. Prof O Connell – referred to a consultant C – in the review report said he was concerned about consent as well as medical history of gardaí and members of the fire brigade. ....

It comes after a Consultant at the hospital left with prepared vaccine doses for their family. Throughout the evening of Friday, January 8th, GPs and other local health workers arrived at the Coombe Hospital to receive a vaccine dose. After half eight, the queue in the car park thinned out unexpectedly with a number of doses already diluted. There were 19 doses drawn up which had to be used inside six hours. ....
