HELENA - The Montana Department of Agriculture announced Dan Reimer as the new bureau chief at the State Grain Labs, the state s only federally licensed grain inspection labs.
With a background in mechanical engineering, Reimer has led teams throughout the world, including as general manager of a manufacturing plant in Mexico and, most recently, executive director of an operation in the Czech Republic. ....

Helena, Mont. The Montana Department of Agriculture announced Dan Reimer as the new bureau chief at the State Grain Labs, the state’s only federally licensed grain inspection labs.
With a background in mechanical engineering, Reimer has led teams throughout the world, including as general manager of a manufacturing plant in Mexico, and most recently, executive director of an operation in the Czech Republic.
“The department is pleased to welcome Dan back to Montana and the state agency as he previously served as the department’s Pesticide Licensing Specialist from 2012 to 2018,” said Christy Clark, MDA deputy director and Agriculture Development Division administrator. ....

Dairy producers, nutritionists, producers, and marketers of hay and other forage material often use indexes used to rank forage quality. These indexes include relative feed value (RFV), relative forage quality (RFQ), California total digestible nutrients (CA TDN), total digestible nutrients (TDN), milk per ton, and others. The best-known indexes are often associated with the buying and selling of hay, especially in the dairy sector.

In 1972 the American Forage and Grassland Council (AFGC) established a Hay Marketing Task Force to identify hay marketing problems, potential solutions, and make recommendations for change. The Task Force co-sponsored a Hay Quality and Analysis Roundtable at Beltsville, Md., in 1975 that brought various stakeholders together to make recommendations.
