Mompha named in new money laundering charges
Mompha has denied the EFCC’s latest fraud charges levelled against him on his Instagram page.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has named Instagram celebrity, Ismail Mustapha, alias Mompha, in its amended N157.1million fraud charge filed against a popular auto dealer, Sarumi Babafemi, alias 606.
Mr Babafemi is the chief executive officer of 606 Autos Ltd; 606 Music Ltd and Splash Off Entertainment Ltd.
He and his firms have since November 1, 2019, been on trial of a five-count charge before Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court Lagos, for allegedly laundering N207.1million. ....

Court fixes Feb. 15 to hear suit challenging NIN registration amid COVID-19


NIMCA Federal High Court Lagos on Monday, fixed Feb.15 to hear a suit challenging the ongoing process of linking the National Identification Number (NIN) with Mobile lines.
Justice Mohammed Liman fixed the date for notices to be served on all parties in the suit after the plaintiff Chief Malcolm Omirhobo had informed the court of his process.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that Omirhobo sued the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) alongside others over alleged coercion on citizens to link their NIN within a stipulated time frame, without adherence to Covid 19 protocols.

Joined as defendants in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy; Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); the DG NIMC, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). ....

Court adjourns Saraki's EFCC case till February 19

Federal High Court Lagos has fixed February 19, 2021, for judgment in a suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the total and final forfeiture of two properties belonging to the former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
Justice Mohammed Liman fixed the date after all parties adopted and argued their final written addresses.
Saraki, a two-term governor of Kwara, is being investigated by the anti-graft agency EFCC which alleged that while serving as governor between 2003 and 2011, he withdrew over N12 billion cash from the account of the Kwara government and paid same into his accounts domiciled in Access and Zenith Banks through one of his assistants, Abdul Adama. ....

NDLEA Airport Command Seizes 3,413kg of Illicit Drugs

The Murtala Mohammed International Airport Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has revealed that it arrested 60 suspects and made a total seizure of 3413.463 kilograms of illicit drugs with Khat leaves, tramadol, cocaine topping the chart in its 2020 year-in-review.
The command also said that it has made several arrests and seized 13kg, 7.8kg and 117grams of illicit drugs in 2021.
The Commandant of the NDLEA Airport Command, Mr. Ahmadu Garba, also disclosed to journalists that the agency’s partnership with the UK border force, the British National Crime Agency, paved the way for the creation of Joint Border Task Force Project (JBTF). ....
