Queensland’s Liberal National Party has investigated a Bowman pre-selection candidate after receiving a complaint containing historic social media messages which show him fat shaming and degrading women.

Henry Pike wrote the messages as a Young Liberal more than a decade ago, but they’ve come under the microscope following a complaint being made to the LNP by a female party member.
“(It) states quite clearly in the Bible that f a fat chick is a sin beyond redemption,” Mr Pike says in one message obtained by Sky News. ....

The vision for a community centre for Shia Hazara communities was launched at an Eid al-Fitr celebration at Noble Park North on 15 May.
Alamdar Society of Victoria organised the dinner with stalls of clothing, jewellery and shoe mending as well as childrens’ activities at Jan Wilson Centre.
Guests included Federal Assistant Minister of Multicultural Affairs, Jason Wood, as well as State MP Tien Kieu and Greater Dandenong councillors Lana Formoso and Jim Memeti.
Shia scholar Dr Sheikh Latif and Ethnic Communities Council of the South East chair Sam Afra also attended.
Founder Saied Rezawi said the Alamdar society would create religious education programs for children as well as a community centre for the Afghan and Pakistan Shia communities. ....

Close to 3000 pro-life protestors turned out for the March For Life walk in Brisbane s CBD on Saturday afternoon.
Crowds gathered at Parliament House for the anti-abortion and anti-euthanasia rally.
Among the guest speakers was Senator Amanda Stoker, Federal Assistant Minister for Women, who said she was done with being labelled anti-women for her stances.
It takes courage and integrity to be here despite those who actively demonise you for your love and respect for the worth of every human being, she said.
