Isiaka, a three-time governorship candidate in Ogun State came third in the 2019 election, which was won by Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC. In the build-up to the election, it was gathered that there were efforts made that Isiaka and Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) could join forces so as to give Ogun West a better chance of producing a governor for the first time since 1976. ....

The Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu; and Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu, faulted the defections arguing that the defectors misled the house by claiming they left their former parties because of a crisis. Gbajabiamila noted their points but went on to declare that with Yau’s defection, all of Kano’s 24 members now belong to the APC. ....
