South Suburban College Associate Degree Nursing graduates receive their pins.
SOUTH HOLLAND-South Suburban College honored its 2021 graduates of the College s Associated Degree Nursing (ADN) Program with a special pinning ceremony last week. The graduates received their nursing pins from senior nursing faculty and class of 2021 advisor Naomi West. This year, 18 students successfully completed the ADN program. Lawmakers are watering down the bill s language from what they initially envisioned.
The House is slated to vote on a bill that would expand the scope of practice for physician assistants, but not as far as originally planned.

Bob Rommel, would lift several restrictions on PAs, including removing the restriction on how many PAs a physician can oversee. But that was before lawmakers adopted an amendment on the House floor Tuesday to instead raise the cap on how many assistants a physician can supervise from four to 10.
“Physician assistants are a big part of our health care in Florida,” Rommel said. “It allows patients to have choices. This bill will give supervising physicians the ability to determine how many PAs he or she may supervise.”

Aaron Frey, PR Specialist, Carl Sandburg College
GALESBURG Carl Sandburg College’s medical assisting program recently earned accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP), allowing both future and recent graduates of the program to become fully certified.
“Gaining the certificate and the CMA (certified medical assistant) credentials can literally change a person s life,” said Kris Gray, Sandburg’s dean of health professions. “They learn so much in a very short period of time, and they re an incredibly needed and invaluable member of the health care community because they re so prevalent in outpatient offices.”
