At 62 years old, Willie Macatantan doesn’t stop for much not even COVID-19. Throughout the pandemic, Macatantan was changing beds and disinfecting rooms for Pine Run Retirement Community’s sick patients, often volunteering to work seven days a week, unfazed by the potential health risks. After a year of cleaning around the clock and interacting with those recovering from the virus, Macatantan was named PA Staff Member of the Year by LeadingAge PA, an organization representing senior living providers and services across the state. The award is typically given to those who have “exhibited excellence” and provided “exceptional service” to community members, according to LeadingAge’s website. ....
