Rebels capable of making some tourney noise

Randolph Southern may have lost its last two regular season games, but the Rebels are clearly an improved team that should be a feared opponent on its home floor in the Class A Sectional.Â
Led by the improved play of 6-foot-6 big man Carter Abshear and senior Parker Retter, the Rebels finished the season with a modest 6-14 record. In their last three games, the Rebels defeated Tri â a member of their sectional, 66-55, then followed that up with competitive efforts against highly-regarded Northeastern and Monroe Central.Â
The Rebels open the tournament in tonightâs second feature tilt against Seton Catholic.Â ....

Peters scores 20 in Rebels loss

Isaiah Petersâ 20 points had a hot hand, but it wasnât enough for Randolph Southern in a 71-50 loss on Saturday at Whitko.Â
The Rebels fell behind 18-3 after one quarter and trailed 44-15 at the half â too far behind to have any chance of a second-half comeback.
One bright spot for Southern was the shooting of Peters, who made 7 of 8 field goals and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Quentin McDavid had five assists.Â
The Rebels were set to play at Union on Tuesday.
