First-ever digital S&T library in PH now accessible to GIDA schools in Lanao Del Norte

To provide Science and Technology (S&T)-based educational and learning resources in various formats to geographically isolated schools, the Department of Science and Technology-Lanao Del Norte (DOST-LDN) handed over six units of STARBOOKS Digital Library to three schools situated in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) in the province.

DOST, in a statement issued Tuesday, April 27, explained that STARBOOKS or the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS – which is dubbed as the first Philippine S&T digital library – is a “stand-alone information source designed to bring S&T information to the grassroots.” ....

AUS Ambassador visits NorMin, explores investment opportunities

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 26 Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven J. Robinson, visited Northern Mindanao to explore areas for collaboration, business and investment.
The Ambassador visited the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 last April 23 to discuss opportunities in the region where Australia can provide meaningful assistance and investments.
He noted agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy, digitalization, and education as areas that they can encourage Australian firms to look into.
“More than 50 percent [of Australia’s development assistance] comes to Mindanao, so we’re involved in a whole range of activities down in this part of the world from health, education, governance, [and] anything that will go to peace, prosperity, and economic revival. Over the last twelve months, we have redirected all of our programs to focus on the Philippine’s economic recovery from COVID-19,” said Ambassador Robinson. ....
