A Martic Township woman took more than $1,000 in cash and merchandise from an East Drumore Township thrift store where she volunteered as a cashier, according to Quarryville Borough police.
Linda Edith Chrisman, 64, was charged with five counts of retail theft and five counts of theft by unlawful taking after stealing $1,045 from the New Hope Community Closet thrift store at 128 Townsedge Drive, mostly in March, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Chrisman used her position as a volunteer cashier to take hundreds of dollars in cash from no-ring sales, police said. Chrisman also took cash directly from the storeâs register and a donation box.
THE ISSUE
The Manheim Township Board of Commissioners voted unanimously March 8 to approve a resolution supporting the creation of a county health department and calling on the Lancaster County commissioners to create one. That board sent its resolution to the countyâs 60 municipalities and 17 school districts seeking their elected officialsâ support for such an agency. The boards of Columbia Borough, Christiana Borough,Conoy Township, Bart Township, Quarryville Borough and Strasburg Township are among ones that have rejected the idea. Denver Borough Council is among the boards that supports the idea, as does Marietta Borough Council. And Lancaster City Council passed a resolution last Tuesday in support of the âpromptâ establishment of a county health agency.
