San Nicolas: Guam has opportunity for golden age moving forward

Del. Mike San Nicolas struck a note of hope for Guam s future during his congressional address on Monday, his first since the COVID-19 pandemic struck the island in March 2020. 
Our island is at an inflection point, emerging from the greatest danger our community has faced directly since World War II,  he said of the pandemic
.
Much of the address focused on federal money and programs that his office had been working to secure. Gaps in federal funding were closing up through improved Earned Income Tax Credit Reimbursement, a larger pool of Medicaid funding and the inclusion of Compact of Free Association migrants in the program, he said. ....

COVID-19 on Guam: Expanded coronavirus vaccine eligibility weighed


The number of Guam residents eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine will remain mostly unchanged, at least for another week.
The government’s vaccine advisory committee is considering further expanding vaccine eligibility to utilities workers and people who deal with the public, but postponed discussion on the matter until its meeting next week, according to the governor’s office.
“Several other groups are being considered for eligibility, such as groups who come in heavy contact with the community and utilities personnel who are critical to sustaining running power and water,” according to the governor’s office. “Discussions also included a pilot program and the possibility of pairing COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts for targeted communities.” ....
