What do we know about the portrait?  
Mattiello s predecessor, Gordon Fox, who went to prison for taking bribes, did not request a portrait, and no one has suggested making one.
Murphy s portrait was done in 2010 by Framingham-based painter Ben Aronson at a cost to the state of $19,000, according to a previously published report.
Aronson has been commissioned to paint Mattiello s portrait as well, according to a contract provided by House spokesman Larry Berman in response to a Journal inquiry.
The budgeted cost: $22,000, which is less than half the amount the state has committed to paying for former Gov. Gina Raimondo s portrait.  ....

State House insider gets $50K severance from General Assembly before heading to RIPTA

PROVIDENCE  Before Frank Montanaro made his leap to his  most recent public-sector job, his last employer, the Rhode Island legislature, cut him a severance check of close to $50,000.
The $49,877.02 severance payment reflects roughly 10 weeks of unused vacation time and 203 hours of unpaid work during the Sundlun-era  financial crisis in the early 1990s,  when state workers were promised compensation  after they left state employ. ....
