ADDIS ABABA, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) Leaders of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), an East African bloc, urged the international community to come together to ensure fair, equitable and timely distribution, with particular emphasis given to addressing the needs of African countries.
They made the urgent call during the 38th Extraordinary Assembly of IGAD Heads of State and Government, which was held on late Sunday in Djibouti.
Noting that the COVID-19 vaccine is a public good, the Summit emphasized the need for the international community to come together to ensure fair, equitable and timely distribution of a safe and affordable COVID-19 vaccine and guarantee that African countries shall not be left behind, a joint communique says. ....

OACPS Ministers endorse new OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement, proposals on Fisheries and the EU Blacklist at 111th session of the Council of Ministers
Brussels, 18 December 2020/OACPS: Meeting virtually on 14, 15 and 17 December 2020, the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) approved eight decisions and two resolutions on key issues affecting its Member States (MS) and pertaining to the administrative and financial management of the Organisation during the 111th session of the OACPS Council of Ministers.
Chaired by H.E. Brussels Dialogue looked at mitigating COVID-19 impacts on island states
10 December 2020, Brussels/Rome - The world s Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face special food-security strains due to climate change, rising oceans, and high reliance on food imports and tourism, which have declined sharply due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaders of island states said at a dialogue organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
FAO Director-General QU Dongyu noted that the SIDS faced unique vulnerabilities and challenges, which have been further aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
