Prof Margaret Kameri- Mbote faced the Judicial Service Commission panel on the second day of interviews for the post of Chief Justice.
In her plenary interview on April 13, Prof Mbote explained that being a woman leader had a number of challenges narrating several events while she was the Dean of the University of Nairobi Law School.
During her tenure, she explained that a section of students did not take her authority seriously to an extent of setting up a bar outside her office. ....

Liberia Receives APRM Country Support Mission

A technical country support mission of the African Peer Review Mechanism Continental Secretariat has arrived in the country.
The Country Support Mission is in Liberia from March 10-13, 2021. The CSM is led by Professor Eddy Maloka, Chief Executive Officer of the APRM Continental Secretariat in South Africa.
While in the country, the APRM Technical Delegation will meet with President George Manneh Weah, Minister Samuel D. Tweah, Jr, the APRM Focal National Point to give a briefing on the protocols and processes at the APRM Forum, and will meet technicians at the MFDP, members of the National Governing Council, as well as the APRM National Secretariat. ....

The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) held a high-level virtual event in cooperation with the CTBT Art. XIV Process Co-Chairs Algeria and Germany as well as the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the CTBTO.
The event included two panel discussions and highlighted the importance of the CTBT to national and international security as well as the non-proliferation regime and linkages between the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the CTBT. Panelists discussed the benefits states gain from the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test Ban Treaty Organization’s (CTBTO) current activities in establishing and provisionally operating the Treaty’s verification regime, specifically highlighting related capacity building.
