For Gloria Cross having this last name was manifest destiny to her identity, her passion, her crusade, and her ultimate destination. Cross, the long-time social justice activist, pastor, leader, mother, and community champion, died unexpectedly on Sunday after a brief hospitalization. She received her LPN degree from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and worked for 20 years as a nurse from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salisbury. ....
Christmas Cheer delivers the goods to Brownstown area residents 12/19/20 12:35 PM Thanks to a charitable organization that has been in place for decades, more families within the Brownstown Central Community School Corp. district will be able to have a merry Christmas this year. Brownstown Christmas Cheer consists of volunteers from the community distributing food to families in need during the holidays. It’s accomplished through a partnership with faculty and students from Brownstown Central Community School Corp. The organization has been in existence for close to 50 years, longtime organizer Gloria Cross said Friday morning as she and other volunteers put together gift baskets of canned goods, flour, cake mixes, sauces, stuffing mixes and other food items. ....
