Temperature-controlled storage specialist Magnavale has secured planning and funding to construct a fully automated multi-temperature cold store in Easton, Lincolnshire that could create up to 530 jobs once complete. The unit, which could store up to 96,000 pallets, would be run entirely on renewable energy, which would make it ‘Europe’s most efficient cold storage facility’, Chesterfield-based Magnavale said. “Environmentally responsible brands seeking to minimise their carbon footprint on the path to UK net zero will now have a simple choice when it comes to the greenest option for their supply chain,” said a spokesperson for the company. Finnebrogue plant-based range launched into Asda Finnebrogue Artisan has secured a contract with Asda to supply the retailer with a range of eight new plant-based products to 434 stores across the UK. The range will include Meat-Free Chicken Style Nuggets, Southern Fried Goujons and Kievs, Chicken Style Shawarma, Chicken Style Pieces, Beef Style Strips, Meat-Free Bacon Style Rashers and a newly developed mince substitute. Commenting on the launch, new product development manager Laura Wills said: “ This further investment in the continued growth of the meat-free protein category within Asda and their support in the launch of our new facility demonstrates the desire of consumers to reduce their meat intake.” ....
Sproud raises £4.8m for plant-based milk push Plant-based milk producer Sproud has announced that it has raised £4.8M from growth capital investor VGC Partners to accelerate distribution of its vegan products in core markets, including the UK. The company confirmed the investment would be used to grow its team and accelerate distribution and brand building activities in markets such as the UK, US and Canada. It said it would also use the cash to fund further development of its plant-based and 100% vegan product offering, which is available through Waitrose, Ocado and Amazon in the UK. Sproud launched in Sweden in 2018, and has expanded to 15 markets in just two years. It is available across the UK via supermarkets and online retailers such as Waitrose, Ocado, and Amazon, plus independent shops, cafés, and restaurants. ....
