That access to information is a public right is not something that everyone fully understands in our region. This lack of awareness can be used to deny the public access to vital information about the dealings of the state and its subsidiaries – information that may help the public decide which way to vote in the next elections, for example. This WPFD theme is a reminder for Pacific Island governments that the public are entitled to information that affects their lives, and that as the people’s representatives, governments are sworn to uphold this right. ....
